Ron Hevener has been designing figurines since before 1970, mainly dog designs for the dog show fancy, plus horse and cat designs.
The designs are created in clay and then a mold is made using liquid mold maker in multiple layers. Then an outer mold is made from molding plaster. After the mold is cured, castings are poured using Hydrostone, the strongest and hardest gypsum cement for use in making high quality, solid art objects. Next the castings are carefully trimmed and left to dry for several days, after which they are sanded and rechecked for any imperfections. The castings are base coated, then air brushed with colors and patterns, each one slightly different. The finishing touches are then done with a brush to create the masterpiece. Finally they are glazed with multiple coats of clear lacquer and allowed to cure for about a week. With proper care the figurines will last for many years and have earned the name - Hevener.
